I’m poet Guy Farmer and I’m seeking a poet in residence position with a forward-thinking, unconventional organization. I’ve been writing poetry for the last sixteen years and have published the work of hundreds of poets from around the world on my own websites. I’d love to connect with an open-minded, progressive organization that wishes to help lovely people learn how to write poetry. I’ve developed a methodology that encourages individuals to learn and grow by looking within and letting go of poetry conventions.
As a poet in residence, I foresee facilitating ongoing workshops to help people discover and celebrate their own poetic voices. My facilitation/teaching style is honoring and kind, I see my role as someone who makes it easier for people to become the poets they were meant to be. I’m especially interested in working in a retreat-like setting.
If you’re an avant-garde, touchy-feely type of organization that would like a poet in residence to help people realize their poetry dreams, I look forward to talking with you. I am primarily looking for opportunities in the Santa Barbara, CA; Claremont, CA; and Portland, OR areas, although I’m open to other locales.
